After college, it's all downhill for men

I'm 23 and a part-time college student again. I work at night, so I go to school when all the mainstream 18-20 year olds go. I've already lived on my own plenty of times, so I got the "real world" perspective most of these college kids lack.

I think now I truly understand how bad your prospects go down for picking up females outside of college. I mean think about it, or actually, don't think about it. This pretty much proves my point entirely:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2005-10-19-male-college-cover_x.htm

It will only get worse too. My group - under 30,000 household income white males - has dropped to 42%, the second-largest decline in the last decade of any group (interestingly, low income asian males were slightly worse in the decline percentage).

I have noticed that although college females are rapidly learning about male ways, they havn't yet developed the all out bitterness and cynicism of the older female. I guess they also cannot afford to be as picky, I mean think about it, there just aren't many males to choose from, period.

But anyway, enlightenment and knowledge are powerful things. I will now no longer be frustrated if I can't get a female outside of college - it's not even worth trying. Why not go with the statistical flow? If you can't beat em, join em.

But oh yeah, men are just holding the women down still, right?

Good news for men though. It means your chances are higher of getting a woman whos educated and makes good money. God knows I wish mine did.

Hey, they wanted feminine rights, they got it. I'LL sit at home and raise kids and THEY caan be the bread winner. 😀

Hopefully you will find a woman who would like to have a Mr. Mom. i wouldn't mind it.

It's only bad if you fall into the make-no-money category, which has always been the case. I'm doing pretty well....

i've had no problem getting laid since college. In fact its gotten easier.

In summary: It is you that must suck not everyone else.

That would be interesting, but I guess I am a little too traditional myself.

The way I was raised and the stuff my mom had to go through for a while, I wouldn't want my wife to work a day in her life unless she wanted to. Of course that is impractical, and I would probably be more attracted to a girl who wanted to work, but it would be her choice.

You should come chill with me, I have dated almost nothing but very bright ambitious women🙂 I can hand you the leftovers.

Ice - I'm basing my opinion on statistics (w/ a little personal reflection thrown in), you are going on a personal experience.

Or maybe you were just one of those guys who didn't grow pubes until you were 25. I was a 200lb man at 17.

EDIT - I also wouldn't mind someone who makes more money than me, but from my experience (maybe it's just me) women still have the expectation of the man pays, the man provides more than 50%, etc, etc. Then again, I'm sure that attitude also prevails by a greater percentage in the low income crowd.

With comments like, "I can hand you the leftovers" I somehow consider the "very bright ambitious" attribute suspect.

Nah, I am comfortable with being single. If the right girl comes around though. 🙂 😀

You guys have noooooo idea how hard raising or even watching small kids is. My wife (well educated, makes good money) has to work every 4th weekend at the hospital and I watch my 2 sons. From 6AM to 5PM it is nothing but stress. I can't imagine spending all week watching kids. I prefer working 40 to 60 hours outside the home.

I read through the article provided, and heres my thoughts.

I see physical abuse and broken families coming from these dwindling male in college trends.

The first thing that came to my mind, is if there are less men in college, that means that there are more men working sh!tty jobs for low wages. The only low wage job that I have worked, is construction, and i know that many of those men have serious substance abuse and alcohol abuse issues. This is not good for women. No matter how strong, or in shape or enlightened a woman thinks she is, she is no match for a man.

Add these things together
Men dropouts + Low wage job = unfulfilled and unhappy with their lives
unhappy men + alcohol or drugs = potentially violent men
potentially violent men + high strung/know it all women/ungrateful to husband = battery/unwanted children/broken families

Seems like a downward spiral to me.

Your telling a guy with 3 kids who watched them all week long while the wife WAS out working that watching kids is stressful?

Look, its about balance. Yes, it is a handful but the point with kids is this. They have minds SCREAMING for interaction and input. Give it to them! Give them a coloring book and crayons, you've bought yourself enough time to do the laundry. Turn on Blues Clues you can bang out the dishes, vacuum and squeeze in mopping the floors too.

I'm not saying being a stay-at-home with kids is easy, not by a long damn shot. But it really cuts down on the stress if you can keep the kids occupied and learning and happy. Having bored kids running around screaming does indeed make it very stressful.

I suppose that for low income anyones, college is the best equalizer they're going to get - everyone is likely to be poor there.

Those of us who attained well-paying positions after college are doing better than ever in the dating scene, I think. Having the money to dress well and go out to nice restaurants, clubs and whatnot helps considerably.

I agree. Women are pretty amazing that way. 🙂

I don't think I could handle it myself. I would go nuts. But I think that women just seem more biologically capable of handling that then guys are, not to say that that gives a guy an excuse to not do everything they can to be a good father, but a larger corpus callosum and different hormone chemistry seems to make women extremely suited to handling 10 different things at once (which is ideal with kids). 😉

Me personally, if I have to handle more than a few different things at the same time, my minds starts to go hay wire. But again, if my future wife wants to work or not to work, that is her choice. As long as career doesn't negatively affect the relationship, why is the OP making such a fuss about it? But I would never want to put anyone I care about in a position where they have to work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meat. 🙁 There are much better ways to grow up.

Not surprising to me. The great majority of the skilled-trade people that I see are men. It's FAAAAAAAR easier for a man to make a good living without college then it is for a woman to do the same.
