after changing the ram, i can't play Halflife, u know why?

Hi,
just replaced a stick of KingMax 128MB pc133 ram , i used to have 224mb ram, Generic.

Now, when i play Halflife(counterstrike if it matters), i will get the HL, Illiegal operation error message.

hmmm, how come?

i'm going to go way out on a limb here and say that new new memory is bad.

you did NOTHING else? just put the RAM in? no chaning some software around, adding or deleting anything? if not then it could be your ram..

oh, i installed 3DMark2000, however, i don't think that is the problem.

i don' tknow, when i plug another 128mb in(total of 256mb), halflife works fine.

Have you tried unstalling HalfLife then reinstalling? Then with new ram in pc try running HalfLife?

no, i don't have the cd with me.

i am not sure, when i only have 128mb, i will end up having an error message, however, when i put another 128mb in, everything works fine.
