(OS Builds 19041.1165, 19042.1165, and 19043.1165) Win 10 21H1 Pro update I get a sfc -scannow report "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to repair some of them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log located at windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag."

Can't help but hate Win 10

Should I Over-Write my system with a previous Macuiun Image BackUp and attempt to re-install the Update or continue and attempt to FIX this crap ?

Decided to give it a FIX Try.

Uninstalled the KB5005033 update rebooted and ran "sfc -scannow" = Clean result.

Ran Windows Update and of course KB5005033 was there - So I chose Install.

After download the install started and hung at 20% for 1 1/2 hours. The mouse was useless, as if system froze, so I hit reset on the MB.

Windows notified me "DO NOT Turnoff your Computer - Bla Bla and continued installation on Reboot.

Ran "sfc -scannow" with a CLEAN result.

My Windows 10 version is still 21H1 not 21H2 ?

After a dozen reboots and running Disk Cleanup and CCleaner all seem fine after 4 hours of CRAP.

Hope you have better luck with Win10 MS Cumulative Updates then I do ;o)

PS: Added about 500MB's overall volume on my boot drive C:.

Suggestion: Be patient when these Win10 MS Cumulative Updates arise and hang at 20% on installation (As if you are in Que with a MS server) - Wait for at least an hour before manually resting the system ?

Perhaps I should just download the MS Cumulative KB's and install them manually ?

I just did the update on two of our computers yesterday (desktop and laptop), and the update took a bit to download, but the installation was pretty quick.

This is what both computers say concerning the current build info:

Next time you get the Windows Resource Protection corrupt files warning and SFC says it can't fix it, you can try to run DISM with the RestoreHealth option as it frequently can fix that issue. Keep in mind, though, that DISM itself does have a habit of seeming to hang at times , so don't get too impatient with it and just let it run.

You probably did right to uninstall the update and try to reinstall (though the forced reboot was very dangerous). On older hardware, I've had those Windows cumulative updates to drag along and take over 3 hours to finally complete installation (most especially on systems without a decent SSD or nVME system drive).

I generally just delay those updates when I see them pop up to run at night while I am sleeping (so I don't have to sit, wait, and wonder just what the hades Microsoft is doing to my system now....).

Well I haven't did a Macrium Reflect Backup of the OS yet as I don't trust it.

Hell - We've been getting Power Brown Outs here lately on the North Shore of Lake Huron due to thunder storms.

Had one 1st time Black Screen and compulsory reboot with a dump file regarding the AMD Software Driver after this update. After several Disk Clean ups, CCleaner and clean SCF -Scannow reports it seems to be solid.

Still don't trust the OS stability after that crappy MS Cumulative update installation considering several Power Brown Outs.

I may just over-write the OS with my last months Reflect backup and start over ;o)

Hope them brown outs did not hurt my PSU (XFX 1050W) I got an EVGA 1300W PSU on the side for testing other platforms. Had a XFX 850W PSU suffer damage over brown outs in the past.

Brown outs are tough on computers (and can totally screw up things if you're doing something like flashing the BIOS or installing updates). If you deal with those on a regular basis, you really should consider getting a nice sine wave UPS.

Boot drive is a XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB mounted in the M2 slot of the CH7 Hero MB with a 3700X and 32GB Samsung B-Die running at 3600mhz 16CL 1T. Sapphire Pulse RX 5700XT.
Sata Mode in BOIS is RAID.
Partitioned: 1GB Fat32 as a ( D: ) : Boot drive / 120 GB's NTFS for WinX ( C: ) and a 355 GB NTFS Games Partition ( F: )
I like the extra Fat32 Volume to load DOS Applications and store Registry Backups.

( E: ) Drive is reserved or a RamDisk which I haven't got around to implementing yet ;o)

2 x's Samsung EVO 860's 512's. A 1GB NTFS Raid-0 as a Scratchpad (Playground).

1 4TB WD Black for Media Storage in GPT NTFS.

1 ASUS BC-12B1st SCSI CDRom Blue Ray Drive - (Which I never use)

Monitor is a PIXIO P7 Prime 27" 1440p 165Hz IPS.

The system is close to 3 years old now.

The platform has never been in a case although I could put it under water in a Fractal Case if I wanted to.

Have to say I love this platform; Basically I'm not a Gamer but mostly into Hardware and Windows crap since Win3 on a 286SX. I play BF5 and Online Chess now and then. I do boot Linux at times. I use to encode Video from Capturing TV by registering MPG4C32.dll or using the MPG4VKI install back in the Win95 and 98 days that threatened patent rights of using MPG2/AC3.MPEG compression - Today everything is MP4 with no patent compression rights save for the content - No one has ever laid claim for MPG4C32.dll - Not even Microsoft - What a revolution for compressing Video for the common folk - Remember when Hi-Hz mp3 was in patent status ;o)

My main game is trouble shooting MS Windows crap - I'm 73 years old and have been into computers since 72, Fortran and Card Punch. I do have 2 or 3 antique systems in my closet that were extremely fast in there day ;o)

I do enjoy hearing from fellow Windows Trouble Shooters in this AnandTech Windows Forum.

Here are 2 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra Scores with 2 RAM Timmings: On stock Air Cooling - I consistently beat the G-Force RTX 2080 by a large margin for all Fire Strike benches ;o)

CL 14 - 3200 Mhz Score: 7304 Graphics: 7401 Physics: 23864 Combined=2416 FPS=105+

CL 16 - 3600 Mhz Score: 7315 Graphics: 7415 Physics: 23937 Combined=3416 FPS=105+

Here are my Time Spy Extreme Scores:

14 CL - Score: 4853 Graphics: 4920 CPU: 4508 FPS: 95+

16 CL - Score: 4895 Graphics: 4960 CPU: 4561 FPS: 100+

Not to shabby for a Test Bench platform sitting on a Card Table - I'm sure I could do better if put the platform under water ;o)

Monitor set at 1440p 144Hz and 10 Bits.
