After 3 weeks of being sick, I finally went to the doctor

I have been sick for 3 weeks, I get fevers almost everyday ranging from 100-104. I dropped 14 pounds in the 3 weeks because I throw up everything I eat or drink. I finally decided to go to the doctor because I wasnt getting any better... He checked me & said I dont know whats wrong & had me take Urine test, Blood Test, & something called a culture test? Well I wont know whats wrong with me untill tomorow but the Doc says I might have Diabetes, I dont even know what that is... I dont want no Diabetes :( man I pray I dont have it but I guess I will know tomorow.

Good luck, but if you are a diabetic, it's not the end of the world. Type 2 is treatable w/diet & exercise, type 1 becomes a routine after a while.

Doesn't sound like diabetes to me, but what the hell do I know.

Anyway, I hope everything turns out okay. Let us know when you find out.

Edit: Have you ever had mono?

For a weak i had been getting fevers, headaches, body aches, etc. went to the doctor and he found a bullseye rash on the back of my thigh (spot i would never be able to see cuz i dont check my ass out that much). Sounds like you had it pretty bad but i had similar symptoms. Lost appetite, etc. You could have same thing but minus the rash. Hope you do have lyme disease instead of diabetes. Good luck.

Isn't it possible to develop diabetes if one's body is under certain kinds of stress/illness for awhile without getting better....you may have wanted to go in a long time ago. Sorry to hear.

FYI a culture test is where they use the swab they took and try to grow whatever bacteria may be ailing you, that way they can ID it as well try to find out what antibiotics it's sensitive/resistant to.

Gooberlx2, I just talked to my dad & he said the Culture test is also done by taking your blood... & that is what they did, they did not use a swab.

I also just took a Sugar test it was 114.

there is also a drug called N-Gap that is awateing FDA aprovial which is supposed to cure it

Ooooh, now you can do all those diabetic health studies.. like 4 week things where they pump you full of drugs for one day a week for four weeks.. then you get $1000! :)

114 isn't type-1 diabetic range, so don't worry about that. You probably have something else. Type 2 won't cause the weight loss you've been describing, so it seems unlikely that you have either.

I've never heard of N-Gap. Got any links? Also, AFAICT, he doesn't have diabetes.
