After a few searches or bookmarks, firefox will stop connecting to anything as if my connection were dead. For a while I thought this was a connection problem but just now I decided to open up IE and everything is working.. and faster than firefox ever was on this computer.

Any ideas? Its firefox 2 with vista x32..

Just the web developers toolbar, 2 gigs of ram and 2.0.0.9 of firefox. I realized if I restart firefox it works ok; still slower then IE but manageable.

I have this same configuration on w2k with no problem. Well, firefox does crash occasionally, but it did without any add-ons - not sure at this point if it's a firefox or system problem but don't have a problem with any other apps. I did have a similar problem with zonealarm installed but since replacing with comodo there has been no problem - can't say absolutely that za was the culprit.

Might check other apps - anti-malware, etc. - that access the network.

Also might completely remove firefox and install to see if this makes a difference - apps. have been known to get confused when updated multiple times.
