The toshiba 16x DVD is clonecd compatible and quiet. $61.00 Shipped at newegg.com.
Toshiba, Lite-On, Pioneer. are the best dvd drives. fast and reliable. except toshiba have slow ripping.
lite-on might have trouble reading scratch disks, and Pioneer might have compatibility issues with Clonecd and its loud.

Afreey's are good drives. I think they're near the top in terms of DAE speed and what not for a 10X. $39 is normal price though, not really a deal since I've seen lower even w/ shipping.

Just FYI I bought four of these 10x Affreeys(Oemexpress here in Ottawa sells them for 59Cdn.). After using them for a few months I found they don't read media(certain CD-Rs, RWs and DVDs) as well as my 12x Toshiba or 16x slotload Pioneer. I don't want to bash these drives too badly they're better than cheapo CD-roms and they're good if your selling a computer, but I personally won't put another one in one of my systems.

After reading many rave reviews on the drive, I recently purchased an Afreey 56x CDROM. I've been very happy in all aspects (noise isn't too bad, has read a dozen media types with no problems) except one. In their infinite wisdom, the manufacturers decided to put speed caps on various types of CDs. My gripe in particular is a 5x-6x speed cap on VideoCDs. While this doesn't affect playback (unless you like to "skim"), when you do VCD ripping and such on a regular basis an undocumented "feature" like this is crippling. I don't know what the other speed caps are, sorry. The FAQ on their website is pretty vague about them, just barely acknowledging they exist.

If the speed is slow when reading VCD's, then more than likely it is slow at reading all data on Mode2 tracks...
