Its more punk/hardcore and less synthetic but yeah, its very true to the orginal.

Yeah, good cover indeed. Different style. A lot more "Rock Out"-able than the aforementioned Material Girl cover. ;)

Well, it is technically good (IE sounds good, well done) but I'm not crazy about it. Doesn't have the same soul as the original.

Heh, I just called up the local radio station and told the DJ about it. He's playing it now.

I agree. The only thing it really has going for it is that the chords are right and it has some kind of production value.

Other than that it has no substance, but that's the same for a lot of the pop rock music today.

Idk, I don't really know what you mean by "no substance". I tink it's an awesome song as far as covers go.

No it is an awesome song that when covered by a decent band still is an awesome song but it doesnt have the same soul of the original song... I agree over produced and too punk for me... but it does sound good and will probably be popular with a younger crowd one that hasnt actually heard the NIN version...

The tag says its from the GTA: San Andreas OST, is that true?

I remember seeing that the original NIN version would be in it....

It has no feeling, no emotion attached to it. It just is what it is.

Part of the reason the original is great is because Trent Reznor felt what he was singing. This guy sounds like he's doing karaoke in some bar.

Well there is allways going to be one orginal... but I've been comparing the two for awhile now and I think I prefer the AFI version. It seems to have a bit more energy seems like it may have an increased tempo the NIN version seems to crawl compared to AFI.

According to the DJ-man, that's correct.

You probably prefer because:

A) You're under 20.
B) You're already an AFI fan and really haven't listened to much NIN. (which is probably be A is true)

No one should even try to cover Trent Reznor's songs.

Heh, but Devo's version of "Head Like A Hole" is alright :)

A: no, I'm 23.
B: I like AFI enough I have one cd but I've been listening to NIN since the 5th grade and have pretty much all their CDs.

I think I prefer the AFI cover beacuse its a good fusion of hardcore/punk while maintaing the orgianls industrial sound, I haven't really heard anything like it before and I think they pulled it off pretty well. I guess I can understand why you would say its overproduced, it would be interesting to see them try to play it live.
