"The allied forces must take very, very special care that security is immediately provided to the Iraqi people until the institutions are back in full service," Karzai said from his office inside the well-guarded presidential palace in the heart of the Afghan capital.

Karzai offered other suggestions: involve returning Iraqi exiles in the government. Be careful about backing the right people. And be wary of creating new and powerful factions while hunting for fleeing members of Iraq's deposed regime.

I'd say that's very sound advice. It's going to be a tough road ahead because many Iraqis will have a distrust, somewhat warranted, of the US installing a regime of its liking. And while restoring order and services to the country, the US needs to make it abundantly clear through actions that the different views of the Iraqi people will be represented in the new government.
