Need info on who (if anyone) is currently making affordable solid state hard drives of a capacity large enough to be used in a fairly powerful desktop workstation. Affordable means not over $1,000.00. Give me your opinions on pricing and reliability of various brands.

Thanks.

Wow. I have no idea why you would want that. The best i can do for you is a IDE 2GB drive from memtech. Its still $2,300 from InstantIT
The 60GB model is $40,000. As I said, Solid state probably isn't even right for you. Look up the definition of solid state.
This technology is utilised in fields where small databases have hundreds of ques. This would cause conventional harddrive technology to become overloaded. Solid State relieves this problem by being capable of accessing small amounts of data 250 times faster than standard harddrive technology

You see? you only use solid state drives when hundreds or thousands of people have to access the same information at the same time.

wait for the gigabyte ram drive....i think it'd be one of the few solid state drives that could be considered "affordable"

They just showed it at a conference, I would suspect maybe by the end of the year you might see a few. I can't imagine too many delays because it is a fairly simple concept.
