Affordable router for bit torrents

I used to have a Dlink DIR-615 which was ok. It gave terrible wifi range, but wired performance seemed to be adequete. It would sometimes however freeze when using bit torrents. I no longer have this router, so I'm looking for a replacement.

It needs to be wifi, but wireless performance does not matter. Rather I would like to maximize bit torrent performance over wired ethernet. Are there any affordable but fast wireless routers?

saw a wrt610 refurb recently it has 128meg of ram - the ram really helps with alot of connections. anything 64-128meg should be fine though.

Check Newegg for an Asus branded wireless router. It accepts the Tomato firmware and is usually among the lowest priced wireless routers. Or: refurbed routers can be found on Amazon or Buy.com.

This. Don't get the one that comes with the DDWRT software already. It's a neutered version of their routers.

Just got an Asus WL-520GU. Paid less for it than I did for the Dlink DIR-615. Cheaper than comparable Linksys routers. Only bad thing is that it only does wireless G instead of N. Flashing it with tomato firmware took me only 5 min. Haven't had an opportunity to test wireless, but wired performance is stellar. Bit torrents run great, with no measureable increase in ping for other connected computers. I can now use bit torrents without worrying about lag during gaming. It's got every setting and feature in firmware (aftermarket) that I need and then some.
