Affordable color laser printer for photos? Do they exist yet?

I've seen laser printers drop in cost over the years and a b&w little home model from Brother or Samsung can be had for $50 to $100 on a regular basis it seems.

It's been some time since I've looked into printers but was wondering if there's one out there these days that's affordable, laser and is able to print photo's with equal or near photo quality?

There are some decent ones in the $300-$600 range.

EDIT: not photo quality, though. Those are still expensive.

I don't particularly think color laser technology has come far enough to even come close to rivaling the more common photo printing technologies available to home users. Quality just isn't there IMO, even on higher class business devices.

I'm liking my friends Xerox Phaser Solid Wax Ink printer.......... but it's pretty pricey but the wax ink blocks are pretty affordable.
