My office has Aeron chairs. They are uncomfortable to me. i've tried multiple chairs- all the same.

the lower back support is not in the right place. and no matter where i adjust it to, my lower back still hurts. i dont have this problem w/the old el-cheapo non-adjustable chairs we used to have. unfortunately, all of those have been donated.

for the aeron's i've even reversed the lumbar support pad so i'm using the thicker side. but it's not hitting the right spot.

any USEFUL suggestions?

Im sure you just need to adjust a couple of the 25+ knobs and levers to get it comfotable...question is which ones!

I have an aeron at home. Push the lumbar all the way down so it isnt hitting your back. Dunno why but the lumbar hurts my back too. I am not sure if the pain is due to it correct my posture or whatnot, but I much less rather deal with it.

I found Aeron's uncomfortable too. We have Steelcase "Criterion" (ugh!) chairs at work but one guy bought a B-size Aeron for his office. After sitting in it casually for a few minutes, I was nearly dead-set on buying one for my office. He went away for a week and let me use it...sort of an extended test drive. I found that after adjusting the chair and actually using it to do work for a few hours, my upper back started hurting. So while it's comfortable to sit in briefly, I found it very uncomfortable after a few hours. Aeron is no longer on my to-get list.

That's the problem with trying out chairs in office stores. There's a place outside of town that sells Steelcase LEAP chairs but sitting in a chair for only a few minutes in the showroom isn't good enough (had I done that with the Aeron, I'd have bought one and later been very unhappy with it). I'd like to rent a LEAP and maybe a Humanscale Freedom for a few days.

I do like the Steelcase "Sensor" high-back chairs.

$600 on Ebay for an Aeron chair! Isn't that CRAZY money for a chair?

Are there any other "superior" chair options?......

I almost bought one, but I found it uncomfortable too. Definitely not worth the money. I preferred the Steelcase Leap and actually bought it, but in the end just ended up taking it back and getting a generic adjustable chair that was just as comfortable.

you must not know how to sit. i'm sitting in one right now. the Aerons come in different sizes. it also has lumbar support which can be moved. either you are sitting in the wrong sized modeled or you didnt position it correctly.

Aerons are a god send to the 8 hour a day office worker ;)
