It's good! Donationware, I think he wants €3 to get rid of the watermark at the desktop. Looks SO MUCH better than the ****ugly Win8.1 desktop.

This has been in beta for a while but now seems to be final, installed and no problems whatsoever. Highly recommended for anyone else who hates the plain 8/8.1 color scheme.

Edit: And yeah, MS, screw you and screw you again - another 3rd party app/hack just to have something nice we had many years ago already. What's next? Will we need a third party application in 9 to get our mice to function?

On topic, it seems that Microsoft has left Aero API calls in Windows8[.1]. maybe for compatibility reasons?

I installed Aero Tuner in Win 8 - and Start8. When I upgraded to 8.1, they worked perfectly This site explains:

And, it is Freeware.
That looks more like the coloring of windows but what the Aero Glass DLL that BigMuscle authored does is it makes a return of the rounded window corners (more specificially the rounded shadows) and blurring of contents beneath it that were more context apparent and intuitive (depth of shadow indicated which window was active, Windows 8 is a step backwards to color indicating active window).

The fact that the only viable solution to do something that the Windows 8 engine should be capable of costs money would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic on Microsoft's part.
