For the past couple days I have been reviewing threads in regards to purchasing another monitor for my computers. Hope someone can answer some of my questions to help us along the way....
points of emphasis:
Purchased a 2005 Dell in 04 with my first computer build...it lasted 4 years
Purchased another 2005 in 05 for our second computer and it died last week
Had trouble with both of them with what appeared to be "stained" areas on the side (looked like water had run down wallpaper and dried). Sent the first one in and got a refurb...lived with the 2nd one. Both eventually developed a problem where your picture would just "flutter or roll". Told myself I would not buy another Dell but it appears that their is a small majority of people who really like the features of the 2408 making me wonder if I should stay witht he dell brand.
Question...what is the history of 2408 and will it have the same longevity as my (2) 2005's? Almost pulled the trigger on an Acer Acer H243Hbmid but then I got to thinking...will it give me the same PQ as what I had with the 2005.. IPS vs. TN. Thought about trying to call Dell and see if they could fix the (2) 2005's) on my nickel...don't really know if that is cost effecient though.
Currently running a Nvidia 7800gtx (if that is relevant).
Have also looked at that 24 inch monitor from dell that runs around $199.00 but I don't think it would be the same as the ultrasharp models. Cnet rates the dell's pretty high...not for sure if its because they are that good or they have a deal going with dell to "paint their monitors rosey" ???????
The 2005 had the ability to connect usb and so does the 2408, conveint, but not a deal buster. If we go with dell, I am just hoping that their monitors are built with longer life...will definitely get the extended warranty to cover at least 5 years.
Monitor usage.....gaming, surfing, and photography.
Before I buy we want to be confident in our choice and I feel comfortable relying on information from you guys here.
thanks for any and all advise.
