Hello all,

Getting ready to pull the trigger for a core duo system but am unsure of which cpu cooler to go with. I intend to over clock to at least 3ghz what is the best value cooler out there so far the artic cooling freezer pro looks good but unsure of it's performance at over clock speeds and am a little worried about having a cooler that is so heavy it's putting stress on the mother board I intend to buy a E6400 processor and a gigabye s3 board and advise given would be much appreciated,
-Eric
PS the case is a full tower ATX skyhawk eagle

Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 from provantage.com. /thread

I used the ACFP7 before I switched to the Thermalright Ultra-120. ACFP7 is very quiet and gets the job done. It cools better than the retail HSF and will keep your temps under Intel's temps limit for the C2D. I'm just picky about the idle temp, so I went for the Ultra-120.

Thanks for the advise guys yeah I am looking at that zalman as a possible candidate I hear the turqin tower is great but nobody has one in stock so I'm torn between the zalman and the ScythNJ1000P with a nexus 120mm fan New egg has the ninjas for 39.00 with a scyth fan supposed to be in stock this friday well see.

So what do you guys think Scyth ninja or zalman? Looking to clock it up to 3ghz

-Eric
BTW Thanks for posting your temp data with the zalmann coolingoff much appreciated

I'd go with Scythe. I have a CNPS9500 and I wasn't happy with it for my C2D. I don't like how it mounts to a socket775 mobo. I prefer to bolt directly down to the mobo instead of a bracket that floats above the socket.

get the tuniq tower its well established for great results or get the thermalright ultra 120 its so well made.

this papst 4412 f/2gll fan is better than the nexus dsl12. i prefer 120mm sharkoon silents more also.

Well I'm inclined to get the ninja due to the excellent price and cooling reviews also it is supposed to be available for order tomorrow from new egg but I think my plan B will be the thermalright ultra 120 lol all the good cooling solutions for the darn core 2
are out of stock new egg has it in stock for like 20 bucks more than everyone else. (Correction they are out of stock)

I guess I'll just have to be good and wait I'll put the parts on the shelf untill I can get ahold of a proper cooling solution for a reasonable price. I guess if I'm going to wait might as well wait for the tuniq tower what sucks is all the parts except for the cooler will be here this friday!

Thanks for the fan advise markymoo I'll look at the sharkoon silent fans

What about the sunbeam silent whisper? Looks simular

-Eric

BTW if anyone knows where I can get a proper solution that is in stock please let me know thanks!

Can't be found anywhere.

True. I found it here, and here, but it's OOS. It is new on the scene, so I would think they'll have stock soon.

Actually the Tuniq Tower 120 has been out for quite some time. Their machine which makes them broke and they were repairing it.

I just checked with new egg the eta is gone so looks like they won't be getting the Ninja Scythes in after all. They do have an open box scythe but am afraid to buy as they state it may not have all the installation accesories so won't help much with out them oh well will need to wait is the stock cooler good enough for no over clocking or is it lame?

Get the Ultra-120 not the Xp-120 which is a better heatsink overall.

To answer your question though, yes it is good.

BTW thanks cmdrdredd after reading the silent pc review of the scythe infinity they say the ultra edges out the scythe when your spending 50-60 for an air cooled solution might as well get the best lol Some guys has a thermalright ultra 120 for 89.99 plus shipping on ebay man talk about rape
