I am building a new computer and have a few questions hope u guys can advise me. I am planning to have a raid set up and see a lot of raid cards based on sil0860 chipset pretty cheap on price watch how good are those cards since it can be got for about $25.
Are the ATA 133 7200rpm maxtors faster than ATA 100 drives when used on a raid setup or are they both the same in term of performance. I see on the ATA 133 box it says 33% faster am i justified in buying those or the WD ATA 100 that can be had this weekend in OM. Links to any reviews for teh above quesion will be appreciated Thanks

ATA133 has absolutely no performance benifits over ATA100. Current hard drives are only just starting to get up to ATA66 transfer levels.

I would probably go for the WD SE's, or whatever drives have the 8MB buffer, as that will give you a slightly better speed increase over a 2MB buffer.

As for the RAID cards, I myself do not know anything about them, hopefully someone else will be able to help you with that 🙂
