To start with, you want LGA1155 parts, not LGA2011 parts, because LGA2011 is expensive and the low-end i7-3820 doesn't overclock. You may also want to put more money into the video card because Skyrim likes high graphics card memory bandwidth.

But could you answer [thread=80121]some questions[/thread] for us?

So I assume you're based in the United States and are willing to overclock? This would be much easier if you actually answered the questions in a numbered order and answered all of them.

Also, you can't actually order from PCPartPicker--it just shows you where prices should be lowest.

On the topic of your build: it's very underpowered for gaming for what you would spend. Take mfenn's $1000 build:
3/3/2013 update:
i5 3570K $215
ASRock Z77 Pro3 $90 AP
Kingston DDR3 1333 8GB $44
Gigabyte GTX 670 $360 AR
Samsung 840 120GB $95
Toshiba 1TB $60 AP
Lite-ON DVD Burner $18
Rosewill Hive 650W $68 AP
NZXT Source 220 $50
Total: $1000 AR AP

- The trick to using the Newegg gift cards is to place one order for the items with gift cards, wait until they email you the code (usually after the charge your CC), then place another order using the gift card codes.
- There is a dual-fan 7850 2GB available for $180 AR and a dual-fan 7950 3GB available for $300 AR if you want to spend less but still get very good gaming performance
- If you intend to OC (the system is capable) grab an aftermarket HSF like the budget Hyper 212+ for $26 or the mid-range Xigmatek Dark Knight II for $47.

Grab the better CPU cooler he recommends, a $180 larger SSD, and a case like the Antec 1100 (cooler) or Fractal R4 (quieter, available in black for $120). I'd also get the 7950 he links to rather than the GTX 670 because the 7950 comes with 2 free games (Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite). That's pretty much a $1200 build.

Ditch this:

Intel Core i7-3820 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Asus P9X79 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard

for this:

Core i7 3770K
z77 motherboard

on the GPU does it matter how big the memory is? like between 2gb and 3gb?

No, not really. It does if you're playing at 1440p with a bunch of highres mods, but 2GB should be enough. If you get a HD7950 you should be good to go. And as others have said, you're properly better of with a 3770K, or even "just" a 3570K, plus a decent Z77 MB.

:thumbsup: New weekly build coming up in a few minutes.

OP, a good rule of thumb with a gaming rig is that your GPU should be more expensive than your CPU, usually by about a factor of two.
