Hello
I want to buy a new rig and i need some suggestion on ram at max 170$ or 123euro price..
I have now:
A64 3000+
A8R-MVP
1gb ram ddr1
2900XT
Terratec aureon 7.1 space

Of course i will keep the vga, audio card and the rest i want to change to this:
DFI fx3200 m/g with ati crossfire 3200
2gb ram
x2 4000+ brisbane

Also i want to overclock and i want the best bang for the buck ram in that price for overclocking. Now i have some Kingmax DDR1 value memory and i can boost my cpu about 600mhz..

Thank you

I don't know where you're from, but here in the states almost any 2GB DDR2 kit is very very cheap (usually less than $100 for pretty good stuff; you can get 2GB of DDR2 675 Corsair XMS for about $70 shipped at zipzoomfly).

If you want to overclock, check out the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 modules. I'm sure they aren't as cheap in Europe as they are here, but all the Ballistix modules use Micron D9 chips that excel at overclocking.

You could try the G.Skill HZ sticks, but I'm not sure about availability in Romania.

IF you are going to buy value ram, at least get PC6400. Those probably wont overclock very well. How high of an overclock are you aiming for?

Also why aren't you getting a core 2 duo platform? I'd ditch this whole crossfire business and put the extra $50-60 towards a Core 2 Duo chip. Those will overclock extremely well.

If you get 650 nvidia chipset board, you dont even have to worry about expensive ram since you can run fsb: ram ratio async. This should also save you $ on the ram 🙂

I wait for the phenom procesesor 🙂.. i am kinda ati fanboy.I don't care about dual graphics platform.I am with single card.
So you say i can't run on am2 the processeor async with memory?

I am not 100% sure if you can run am2 downward async with AM2 platform. But say if you were, there is no poing in overspending on very expensive memory then. You should ask this question in the Motherboards section.
