Advice to get FreeSync to work

I just installed a MSI Radeon RX 480 8 GIG GPU and have a Certified FreeSync 144HZ monitor.

I updated the GPU drivers to 16.12.1
I hooked up the Dual channel DVI Cable (GPU to Monitor)
I changed the windows refresh rate to 144HZ
I rebooted...and still the AMD Raedon settings APP still says

"AMD FreeSync not supported"

Any thoughts.....I did search around and this should be working. Am I missing something simple?

Freesync does not work with DVI cables. Use Displayport.
