Advice sought on transferring copies of mail for Thunderbird Mail

Although I tried setting both systems up the same way, the second one didn't actually import anything when it claimed to have done so. I had Netscape 4.8's Messenger as my mailing program, but was using Mozilla 1.4 as my browser. Messenger seemed to be developing more and more problems, and always ignored my choice of Mozilla for browsing when I would click on any link in an eMail.

Thunderbird 1.0.2 went right to work on the "backup" PC, transferring everything from Netscape without a missed beat. The newer, handier PC had the same Netscape setup, all mail was the same, etc.

Scanning through the folders on the two, I don't see where they differ. It looks to me as if the Thunderbird on the older PC is using the Netscape mail folders in place, but that seems slightly odd. What can I copy over from the "working" setup to the incomplete one? I've already tried to uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall it, with an upgrade to Mozilla from 1.4 to 1.7 in between, and ended up with the same empty mailboxes.

I'll go poke around at a Mozillazine forum, if I can find my bookmark to get back there . . until I get a reply here, anyway.

TB, on a clean install, stores everything in Docs and Settings/<User Name>/Application Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/<Profile>.

How Netscape/Mozilla affects the location, I don't know.
