Advice regarding HK Reciever and Infinity/Polk Bookshelf Speakers

Hi,

I guess I should first state my aim, I'd like the best all around system for movies, games, and particular emphasis on music. Expandibility is also a concern.

I'm looking into getting a reciever and some bookshelf speakers, I've narrowed it down to these options:

Recievers:
Ok leaning toward the onkyo TX-DS676 which while older has more power and
stellar reviews. But still considering HK AVR 235

Bookshelf Speakers:
Infinity Beta 10/20's
Polk RTi 4/6 's

Wow, horrible post, you never said what you're looking for etc....

I had one of the nicer HK's, AVR 420 I believe, it was great when it came to features and sound quality, but it broke 4 times, thank god for extended warranties.....after they eventually just gave me store credit I went with the equivalent onkyo, less features but more power, and haven't looked back, its been running well for over a year now.

Careful of H/K recievers, I have heard some horror stories? How about Denon? I am not a fan of Polk speakers (they are OK, but not what they used to be), I would go w/ the Infinities or a set of med level JBL's.

No, JBL's HT stuff blows...they need to stick to pro audio.

I have a set of Infinity IL40's and they're amazing.

We've got a HK AVR230 and Polk RTi6s in the living room on the main home theater system. It sounds pretty good. I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for here.

You are out of your mind. I have a set of JBL studio series, and they are awesome. Better than my REFERENCE SERIES KLIPSCH!

I love my HK. It's the AVR510 model and I've been using it for a few years now. If you have doubts, it's worth it to buy each one and return the ones you don't want.

You WILL hear a difference with the HK. I recently took my own advice and my dad and I went out and bought a Denon, Yamaha and HK - all of which were top-of-the-line models.

He kept the HK. It was MUCH better sounding. Fuller, great freq response at low volumes, etc. Great buy.
