Why don't people ever listen. My friend is making a website. Poor sap doesn't have a chance, he thinks he's going to make millions of dollars from advertising and sponsorships. I told him he's about 5 years behind but that just went over his head. So he finds a host that has one of these all-in-one packages. I really could care less which package he bought since I knew he wouldn't listen so I just said "Thats fine". The only thing I stressed was to register the domain name on his own at Go Daddy since the host will most likely register it under their company. Well he goes "It's included in the package, I'll do it through them". I warned him again, speaking from experience but alas, he doesn't listen. So this morning I check the Whois and of course I was right.

I sure hope he likes his service since he'll wind up paying through the nose for the name unless they are a carefree company. I think I told him 5 or 6 times to register the name on his own using Go Daddy. Whenever he'd talk about the site, it was the first thing I said. He paid about $40 more for service he doesn't need. I'm almost certain he won't be needing MySQL, Access and ColdFusion. MySQL and PHP would have done the trick, Access and ColdFusion are just there.

I sure hope I'm wrong butI I remember paying well over $100 for a domain name that my host registered for us. And it wasn't like I could snipe in and steal it since they registered it for 3 years. Such a horror...

Some people need to fail on their own unfortunately. I prefer to learn from others' mistakes, I don't have enough time to make them all myself.
