Advice/Opinions on computer

Hi,

I am building a new dual use computer for software development and personal use. It will need to run software such as Oracle/SQL, IIS/Apache, Photoshop, Visual Studio, etc.. It will also need to drive both a Dell 2405FPW and 2005FPW via DVI.

My requirements are stability, performance, and immediate, hassle-free build ( existing computer met the big bit bucket in the sky ).

The proposed components are:

1. Coolermaster Stacker Case
2. PCP&C Turbo-Cool 510 SLI Express
3. Asus A8N SLI Premium
4. OCZ 2GB Platinum (OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K)
5. AMD X2 4800+
6. WD Raptor 74GB ( x 2 )
7. Maxtor Maxline III 300GB
8. NEC 3540 DVD
9. BFG 7800GTX

I will need to order on Friday to have the parts for work after the 4th of July. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I would get cheaper ram. A64 doesn't need expensive ram. Value ram (such as Mushkin or Corsair) will do fine. You also don't need that kind of video card for PS work and such. Instead, get maybe a 6800GT or something and maybe add another bit of ram with the money saved.

Appreciate the advice. Cheaper RAM it is, then.

As for the SLI board, I will have 3 monitors soon. I assume that two 8 lane PCI-e slots are required for such a configuration?

Regarding the Raptors, I have tried them for compiling vs 7200RPM drives and there is a "seat of the pants" difference. A single build of a project could involve hundreds or even thousands of files, including input and output. If any developers have real world experience, please chime in.

Cheers.
