I hope this is the correct forum!
My 6 yo grandson is moving away from me and I would like to set us up with a pair of webcams, so we can stay in touch.
I built him an athlon 950, w/ 256 mb pc 133, on a MSI 6330 mb, 15 gb maxtor and Visiontek geforce2 GTS 32 mb DDR, cheap sound card and speakers.

What webcams would you recommend for ease of use and reasonable resolution and automatic adjust for lighting conditions.

He can load and play his games, but needs a simple operation of cameras. I hope to have it all set up and teach him how to use it before he moves. Any additional periphs I need? Price under or near $200 for whole camera setup, or what ever I need <G>

Please help
Thanks Papa

I have a Kodak DVC 325 web cam and it works great. It is a usb cam and works great on the web. I have tried it with Netmeeting and MS Messenger and it is fine. It also works in Windows XP as well as older versions and many web cams don't work in XP. You can buy one at pcbuyerclub.com for $30 plus shipping.

I have an Intel CS330 which I believe is called the USB Delux. It's the one below the blue and white Intel Pro model with RCA jacks for VHS. This camera has been great as a web cam and delivers good frame rates. Color is perfectly acceptable. I say this mostly because I also have a Logitech USB Web Cam Pro which has been nothing but horrible in terms of picture quality and refresh rates. It received good ratings when i bought it, but I wouldn't give $5 for another Logitech. Intel cams seem to do a really nice job, and driver support for the various Windows OS's has been good. Pricewatch has the Intel Delux for around $28 plus S&H.

Good luck,
R
