Advice on upgrading PC

Hey guys, I'm gonna upgrade my PC and I already have a
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500gig HDD and a 450w PSU which I wanna keep them.
Here are my choices of hardwares:

CPU : Corei5 6600

Main : Gigabyte GA Z170 D3H

Ram : G.SKILL Ripjaws V DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel - 8GB

I mainly use this PC for coding and programs like MATLAB/SIMULINK , PSPICE,... So
1. do you think that these hardwares are wisely chosen based on my field of work ?
2. Is my HDD compatible with this main board ?
3. Is 450 w PSU enough ?

Power supply is fine barring a high-end video card. Any room in the budget for an SSD?

What are you upgrading from?

Honestly I'm tight on budget and I'm planning of getting an SSD in future
My current hardwares are
Cpu : Intel celeron 347 D 3.06ghz
Main : asus p5gc-mx 1333 lga 775
Ram : 1gb single channel ddr2
Vga: onboard
HDD : seagate st3500418as sata-||
ODD : asus drw 1814bl

That is going to be a problem for you. The oldest drivers you are going to find for any of the hardware on your list is Windows 7.

So set aside at least $60 of your budget for that:

Since you are going Skylake, I would recommend taking advantage of installing Windows 10 (it has full support for that CPU) and activate it with the Windows 7 license you purchased above (since the latest build allows you to do this).

Oh my bad, yes I'm gonna go for win 10 or win 8.1
Win xp is on my old PC currently installed
My biggest problem is finding a main board which has at least one sata-|| connector to use my HDD and also support Intel lga 1151 processor socket

You still can't find a board without SATA connectors, so don't worry about that. Are you seeing something that is making you pause there?

So you mean that I can connect my old HDD to sata 3 slots ?

With Windows 8 and up, yes. Windows 7 needs special drivers, and older chipsets needed a separate chip. But with the Z170 and Windows 10, you shouldn't have a problem.

Glad to help. A lot of good options out there, but Gigabyte and Asus have been my favorites for years.
