I have never dealt with a recruiter / placement company online, out of city area, before.
I have to send back personal info to start (DOB, SSN, etc).

The guy I spoke to said I have to pass a security check since the project will be at a govt office.

From the email (he said this on phone too):

It?s a basic data migration/refresh project. New machines will be installed at each location.

A quick Google search brought up no places I could find with people discussing bad things about this place.

Here is their website

BBB.org gives 3 links for the URL, with no bad records for what is listed.

What are the offering you - a few days work and where? Local of out of area.

If the BBB has no bad records on them, you should be safe. It is just an employment agency.

If out of the area, make sure that they will cover your expenses.
If the position is with a government agency, they should be good for it. The government does a more extensive check on them than you could.

It is my city. The agency is out of town/out of state.

He said they will pay for my certification and no money up front to pay for it THEN they cover it later, which sounds good since I am flat broke.

My credit is nothing to be stolen so I am not worried about someone trying
to get a loan in my name :p
