Advice on some parts for new system?

Hello all looking for advice on building a new system,i'm not interested in sli.
I already have a 7900 GS,Antec Trio 650W,Monitor,Kb,Mouse.Speakers.
I need the rest of the stuff to complete a system,i'm still new to putting systems together but have put several psu, vid,sc etc in.
I want this build to be Intel c2d.
I Have a $700-$750 hundred budget.
Many Thanks

To me, case choice depends a lot too on how you want it to look, so find some others you like as well and compare them.

Here's some good o/c memory with a great price after rebate
Partiot DDR2-800 2GB

For o/c, I'd check out the e6300 or e6400
C2D

I don't know what kind of features you need on a motherboard, but here are a few you can take a look at
Asus P5B-E
Asus P5B-Deluxe
Gigabyte DS3

Also, what about optical drives and HDDs. What capacity would you need for a HDD? Take a look around and throw something together as it'll give a better idea of what all you need and/or are looking for.

Sorry so late to reply had to run to the store for my g/f.
250 gb or 300 gb sata HD with 16 mb cache would be nice,i already have a maxtor 160 8 mb sata but have heard bad things about them i don't know who is king of the hill now last i checked was Seagate i believe?
I forgot to ad i have already optical drives.
The main thing with the cases for me is that the have good vents and fans and cool the system well.
I also had someone recomend this cpu even though it isn't c2d and he said use this untill quadcores come down in price then jump on one.
what the main differences between the c2d and this one again ,many thanks.
Do u think by the time quads are at a good price that there will be a new DDR 3 standard?

Many Thanks moosey u have helped me out a great deal.
Would u happen to know which board has the better onboard sound?
Btw forgot to add i believe ill be using Vista is that matters.

I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I think some people had some issues with the audio on the Asus boards (cracking?). Check the Newegg reviews for that also, they could be helpful in that regard. Someone can correct me on that if I'm wrong though.

Edit: I just put those boards out there as an example too, as those are some I'd consider if I were buying a P965 board and they o/c well. You can go lower in price if necessary.

Ok so now im having trouble staying in my $700-$750 budget range.argggggggg
Where can i cut corners?
Thanks

You can trim some money going with an e6300 processor if you're going to overclock and want to go that route. The e4300 is a great chip to o/c as well.

Check out these 2 boards as well, they can save you money. Also, the P5B-E is a better overclocker than the P5B.
Biostar
Gigabyte S3
Anandtech P965 Awards

See how any of this works out

Thanks again moosey,I read that article and was considering those and then i have been hearing these horror stories about the 965 chipset problems with certain kinds of memory and it's kind of hit and miss,do u think the ram i picked would work in those boards u posted?
Many Thanks again🙂

I can't say for sure, but I don't see why not. I'd mainly check some reviews for that and see what they were using. A lot of people use the Corsair as well. You should be fine though I'd think, especially as BIOS' mature for these boards.
