I have created some software that I think will be of interest to a large US company. I have no idea how to go about presenting this program to them. The company has several competitors that I'd like to be able to sell this program to down the road.
I don't think I would be able to get a patent on the idea because the basic function of my program is already in place on the company's website. Besides, I don't want to front the $360 to apply for a patent if I'm not even sure the company would be interested in my software
The advantage of my program over their website implementation is that it offers more features and would allow more of their customers to use an aspect of their service than is currently possible.
Should I just send them a letter explaining the details of the features of my program, or would that be too risky since they could easily hire a programmer to essentially do the same thing themselves? Anybody have any advice or know where I can find out more about how to present this software to them? I am new to this, so the more info the better
Thanks!
