Can someone tell me how hard it is to remove the heatsink/fan on the GF2?

I have a GTS and an Ultra and I want to replace the fans. I haven't been able to find the fan alone, so I was going to buy blue orbs. Is there anything I need to know about pulling the current heatsink/fan off and mounting the blue orb correctly?

yeah, dont use the circuit board as a leverage point to pop the old one off, you might damage the traces on the board... if the fan/hs is epoxied on, just use a flat screwdriver or a butter knife and pry between the heatsink and the chip from the side, on one of the corners.. done carefully it should pop right off. The blue orb will be easy to install, but for my particular card (gts) it made zero difference on my maximum overclockability... Keep in mind that overclocking the core has almost zero impact on your performance, as the memory is the main bottleneck on this card. If you've already hit your limits with the memory bus, you probably cant go much higher, even with heatsinks on your ram...

It might help removal if you pop the card in the freezer for a bit before you attempt to pry off the HSF.;)

Good idea 2336 but remember not to whine if your mum cooks the card with the christmas turkey :D

What do you use the stick the heatsinks to the memory? can you get one where it's a bigger heatsink covering the memory two with one fan, like they have on many GF3's?

Actually I'm not even overclocking - the fans are just old and aren't moving smoothly so I wanted to replace them, but I can't seem to find replacement fans so I was going to use a blue orb since they seem to be recommended.
