Advice on purchasing a webcam

Not sure if this is right forum, but saw 'Video'.

Looking for a webcam, under $25, that is either USB or firewire and gives a decent picture... Using OLD Create WebCam II (parallel port), which is crashing WIN/2003....

Trying to bid on Logitech 4000 since got good reviews, but out of my budget a bit.... any advice would help.

Why do you think you need a webcam? I have a $100 logitech quickcam 4000, and it's useless. It's just a little gadget that I thought would be neat. I used it when I got it, played around with it, said, "Hey, motion detector, COOOOL."

The PQ isn't up to par w/ a real digital camera either.

I have a digicam... nice Mavica that takes super shots.... I wanted to setup my webcam so I can spy on my kittens during the day. I have the app to work the webcam with a webpage, but just seeking a cheap (but good) webcam.

I have seen the Logitech quickcam 4000 now for about $56 new, but still too pricey for my taste.

If you have a digital camera, then just plug that into your PCs USB port and your set to go.
I use a Fuji Professional Digital Camera (not sure of exact model), as my webcam, although, i dont use it that often cos i know no-one who has a webcam that i can use it with!.

Generally what you are saying is true, however, with a Sony Mavica, when in 'USB Mode', it only allows transfer of pics, and I don't know how to capture image...

I was hoping someone would know of a halfway decent webcam that was reasonably priced. The Logitech quickcam 4000 is nice, but not worth the $60-80 in stores.
