Advice on possible upgrade

I got some money saved in my "upgrade" account, and I wanted to get some advice here. My current rig is in my sig. My computer is used for gaming and I have a 27" 1080p monitor.

The games I play are Fallout, Mass Effect 2, Civ V, Dawn of War II, Dragon Age, Crysis, Batman AA. Games I will get in the future are Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age II, possibly Crysis II, the new Batman, any new Total War games. I must admit my games run with no problems now, but wouldn't mind doing a little future proofing.

With my monitor resolution would it be worth it to go to a 580 video card? Or should I upgrade my mobo and CPU, either wait for the new AMD BD or switch to the new Intel 2500k? I don't mind if I have to reinstall my OS or games since most of my games are on Steam.

Thanks for any tips.

future proofing is nonsense especially when you are having no trouble playing games. buying a $500 gpu is silly if your current gtx480 is getting the job done. and at 1920x1080, I cant imagine you having an issue until your entire system is dated. spend your money on something else or just keep saving it for later when you actually need something.

I agree. Pick up a nice SSD or something. The 480 is already more than good enough for maxing out just about any game out there.
