Howdy all,
I have some kickass RAM i jst picked up, OCZ PC5000. anyway, i can run it below spec at DDR580 at 5\6multiplyer with CPU doing 9x340 or something along those lines

OR
I can go with my CPU at 8x380 and run at 5\6 memory devider with ram at around DDR630 which is jst over spec but stable.

It's about .5sec slower SuperPi with 2nd option, Does it matter? will I see much performance increese with 50mhz on my ram?

im just overclocking for the hell of it, It seems my system performs allot better with my 2gb set at DDR440 anyway.

Lemmie know yer thoughts! :p

EDIT: BTW Lapping Heatsinks WORKS! I lapped my XP-90 to a mirror finish and got -3c Temps on Idle and -8c to -12c on Load. And it's not even burned in yet!

I'm stoked :p

mmmm, u may want to tone the cpu down a bit, i had mine at that speed, and heat was not an issue at all, but eventually i noticed that it just was not stable "ENOUGH", u can play a good 5 hours of something, but long run,, it may crash 12 hours later on a torrent. Just letting u know. ur ram,, idk it should match my ram exactly if not a little better. ,, it's time to consider a new Gcard for u i guess

AND, actually on the speed, I've had mine stable up to 3100mhz on prime95 for 24hrs, but it is'nt stable with AOEIII of all games, BF2 and CSS have no problem with it.

Well, 8x380 will give you more performance, as you've found. It's also much harder on not only the RAM, but also the motherboard.

Processor stability means jak, especailly when you just "prime",, does not closely mirror real world usage at all. system stability as a whole is likely not there when you push the fsb up there. "unless you have the Limited edition of the DFIs, those will actually do whatever timing/ setting you want. " my friend's got it, "sooo jealous". i was like, omg u actually opened the box, u fuker.

Inveterate you are talking about the Venus aren't you. i have an expert. Inverterate is right Prime helps but its not real world situations. Yoshii said it best "if your games are messing up then tone it down. i think you should tone it down anyway, but its your rig. Speed AND stability is what we all want.
