It's funny how NYC threads always bring the hermit, T. Kaczynski types out into the open.

I've got cousins like this who live in Rockland County (about an hour north of NYC). For them, the prospect of visiting NYC evokes an irrational feeling of sheer terror. They ask "Is it safe?" or ?Aren't you nervous?" or "Is that near Harlem?". It's actually kind of sad, to be living so close to such a great city with so much to offer but yet be overcome with irrational fear.

Truly spoken like someone who has not been held up at gunpoint - twice - like myself (yes, in NYC).
