Some time ago I purchased a pair of ATI4890 cards, and they worked great. At least for what I was using them for at the time.
The thing is that these cards work stellar for World of Warcraft but not for any other game I choose to play.
In any configuration, single or cross, will they pass a 3dm06 standard benchmark or Vantage. 3dm06 works well up until the point of canyon test where SM3 is used with some bloom. If for some reason it passes this test it surely fails the one after it.
I switched to an old pair of 8800gts and I have no problems whatsoever.
Now I have RMA'd these cards and gone through extensive troubleshooting about them and Diamond has sent them back to me re-flashed and tested and I don't notice any difference at all.
I'd like to think there is another problem with my computer that would be causing my obvious incompatibility but I cant seem to figure out what it would be.
I'd appreciate any advice you might have. I'm off to do a mem test
