I'm looking to get a new 21" monitor to replace the aging 17" one I have. I run my 17" at 12x10 resolution, and figure I will probably run the 21" at 16x12, maybe bigger, so I'd want the 21" to be able to do at least 85hz at 16x12. I know the Sony G520 can do 16x12 at 100hz, but I'm wary of the .24mm dot pitch. At work i use two older Sony G500's at 12x10 (vid card only has 16MB RAM, cant support any higher without loosing the dual capability) I have however tried running just one at 16x12, and it looks a bit "grainy" which I attribute to the .24mm dot pitch. Is this correct? I have a bud who works at Sony and can get me a G520 for 688+tax, no shipping. Not a great price, but no shipping is nice. I've check out the specs for NEC's, Viesonics and Hitachi's, but I can't find one with a dot pitch less that .24mm AND the capability to run 16x12+ at 85hz+. I'd also like to keep the price at 600 or so. Any advice? Am I asking for too much with my budget?
