I have a Swan M200 speaker set and am trying to slowly start building on it as budget permits. I use my computer to watch movies and listen to music. What should i be getting first? a new receiver or an amp? what should i be getting after that? sub-woofer, bookshelf speakers or something else?

I live in India but I have someone coming here from the UK and i can pick up stuff from this store.

I am a noob when it comes to audio (i used to think bose were good until recently!) so would appreciate any advice/feedback.

thanks!

The Swans are powered, so an amp wouldn't do anything for you.

A receiver could help if you need more connectivity for more sources, but wouldn't help other than that.

A subwoofer would be the way to go imo.

Could you 'expand' on the PC portion of your htpc? Details of existing hardware. What file 'types' of movies? Bluray? Storage needs? DVR?

Does your mobo have decent onboard sound? What will you connect to your SS receiver?

thanks both for replying.. well I have an Athlon 64 3000 with ok onboard sound but I will be upgrading to a core 2 duo with ALC880/890 which i am told is very good HD Audio. I have a Hyundai L90D+ which i will be replacing with a Dell 24" widescreen so that's what I will be watching movies on for the near future. I generally watch 720p HD DVD rips probably Bluray going forward.
