Advice on going through Oracle certification

I'm an current information systems student, and I've been offered a lucrative opportunity in a new company that is starting up. However there is a Oracle 11g associate level certification that is required, and me being mostly Desktop Support and with not alot of experience with Oracle.

So I'm looking for any kind of feedback from people who taken the certification... What are the steps? Any resources I should look into? Should I take the exams by themselves or take a class?
 
You might have better luck with the Software For Windows forum.

That said, we REALLY need an IT forum for questions like this.
