Advice on Family Member's New Build

Here is the part list I have picked out for a new build for a family member. The computer will be used for light gaming so a graphics card that can do 1920X1200 at medium-high settings for the next 1-2 years is preferred. Trying to keep the budget as close to $800 as possible, but the Windows license of course makes that more difficult.

I wonder if I can shave off a little cost in the power supply and motherboard. I also don't know much about current hard drives since I went with an SSD awhile back. 1TB is PLENTY of space so anything reliable will be good. The graphics card also seems expensive to me since I bought an RX480 last year for high $200s and have been happy with it. Is there anything comparable for a bit less money?

If anyone has any input it would be much appreciated.

LOL. Been out of the loop? RX 570 / 580 are $320-450.

I usually only look into hardware stuff when I build a computer and have to relearn all the numbering on graphics cards in particular. I was debating the 1060 3GB vs 6gb but will also look at the RX570 since I can probably go another $30-40 for graphics card.

You can get the Seasonic Focus Gold 650W PSU from Newegg for $20 cheaper after rebate or the 750 for $10 cheaper with no rebate from Amazon.

Dell Inspiron Desktop 5675. $600 with an RX 560. Done. Wait for GPU prices to stabilize then upgrade the GPU. If it's for light gaming the RX 560 should suffice for the time being. Or, sell the RX 560 (looks like you should be able to get $140 for it which would leave you $340 to spend on a video card.

Personally with the way GPU prices have been (they are slowly getting better, especially lower end) I would go with a prebuilt system. This will also save you on the windows 10 install.

If you shop around you can find some better deals than the above I am sure. I just took a quick glance for you.

Another thing I will say, building systems for family members can get tricky. Depending on the family setup per say, things can go wrong. IE they have animals and a bunch of hair and dust clogs up there cpu fan, it over heats and kills the chip and they think its your fault because it's only a year or two old. Then you are taking the blame for it.

Hopefully it's not a problem for you, but one nice thing about the above options is return policies and warranties. Just food for thought
