My Dad is looking into this software from a website to "speed up" his computer overall and his internet connection. I, for one, have always been a little leary of these types of programs. Can anyone help me convince him, one way or the other (I don't have a problem admitting I was wrong, I just want the truth)? I've been to a couple of sites who waffled on the product, "well this is good but this other isn't really what it says".

Please help me!

Its a waste of money. If there were software to "speed up" your computer microsoft would already own it/have bought it/or be selling it as an upgrade. Does he buy all those gas milage improver things on tv too?

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

:p

I don't have any evidence to back it up and I refuse to search for them but a program to speed up your computer is crap. However you CAN tweak your internet connections, start researching at places like dslreports.com there is a few better sites but I don't remember them off the top of my head, i have them bookmarked on my other computer.

Use Dr. Google.

But it's worthless, these "speed up" programs helped a little with Windows 3.1 but stopped doing anything useful as of Windows 95 which greatly improved memory management.

Any review that doesn't admit this is trying not to lose an advertiser and/or is afraid of a frivolous "defamation" lawsuit.
