Advice on CELL PHONE experiences

My cell phone recently broke... It was a SAMSUNG SGH-X426--I didn't like it AT ALL, I would have the most horrendous connection inside my room... my same service was much better when I had it on one of those black and white Nokia phones...

I am curious if there are some great reliable cell phones out there where I can just slip my sim card into and continue my subscription (all my numbers are saved onto the card)

I don't have a load of money to spend, any advice is much appreciated :)

TIA

Well if your going to bitch about your connection inside your dorm room then I guess I can't reccomend the Audiovox 5600SMT because my connection is very variable in my room though I do live on a hill which makes it kind of rural.

Hehe, it is annoying indeed, however, I did deal w/ it for over a year so it wasn't THAT bothersome to me...

Any other thoughts?

I love my T637 because Rogers supports the 850 band. I get great reception even underground and I'm surprised where I can actually get calls.

If Cingular supports the 850/1800/1900 bands, I would go with a Sony Ericsson for sure, or a least a Nokia. I would not get a Samsung or Motorola...

How much did you want to spend? Do you prefer the filp Style, or does it matter? Is your sim 32k or 64k?

Since AT&T is now Cingular, I'm a bit shocked that you are unhappy. Why is that?

EDITED because I can't spell.:p

If you need good reception in a place with a crappy signal, get a Nokia. On average their phones have the best RF out of any I've used, and that seems to be the consensus in PhoneScoop reviews. I have a Motorola right now and I'm sick and tired of walking through dead zones in my house and having a call drop while my sister's cheap Nokia works anywhere around here without so much as a blip.

I like Moto phones a lot, but their reception isn't as good as a Nokia. On average. IMO. :p
