Alright. Just need some advice from you guys. Its time to upgrade the old AMD 1800+ system. Did great for 3 years..time to retire it and jump up a notch.

What I'd like to get is a
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor Socket 939, with a good PCI express based motherboard. I was going to get the DFI Ultra but it needs a 24 PIN based powersupply. And according to their website it may not be stable if i simply buy the 10 dollar converter. And the last thing i want is an unstable pc. Now i've looked around and I can't seem to find a PCI Express 939 board that works with a 20 PIN PSU?? Trying to avoid purchasing another powersupply if possible. the system will be
running 2 - 3 HDs (mix of ide and sata for now)
one dvd rw
an audigy 2 snd card
and at MOST a 6800GT or X800 XL (havn't decided on this yet)

if anyone could give their reccomendations..or reccomend a website that could help me out. I would really appreciate it. Thanks,

Get the Tagan TG-480-U01 and the X800XL because it has nearly the same performance as a 6800GT but it's 100 bucks less. You WILL have stability issues on the DFI Ultra-D if you don't have a 24 pin PSU.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

Get the Ultra-D , 3200+ , and a good single rail 24pin psu.

Just read the thousands of problems ppl are having w/ the NF4 platform.

The one's that don't have problems are getting good components for the most part.

Good luck

Jose

Thanks everyone for the information helped out. And those 2 power supplies are a lot cheaper the the OCZ i was looking at before. I really want a stable system that will last...so it looks like I'll have to put down the money. Though I'll check the reviews on that Solteck board (though it doesn't have SATA 2) . Thanks again everyone.
