Hello, I'm a first time builder looking into putting together a system. I'm a bit overwhelmed and not entirely sure what I'm doing and was referred to this site. So far I've picked out what I need to the best of my knowledge. If anyone could let me know if I've picked quality parts, compatible hardware as well as offer any additional comments it would be greatly appreciated. The primary focus of this system will be gaming/school work. I'm already pushing my budget slightly at about $1700 so I'd prefer to keep costs down if possible.

Here it is:

If you can, wait until July 22 when Intel will drop the prices on their processors. If you're in college, check to see if your college as a licensing agreement with Microsoft. If they do, you could get office and windows for free or at a greatly reduced price. I got Windows Vista Enterprise and Office 2007 Enterprise for free from my school.

I second waiting for July 22 (and would recommend picking up a q6600 then for a a little more then the e6600 is now), please post the prices you are getting for each of those parts as even with software $1700 should be more then enouhg for a quality build (you should be able to fit a 8800gts 640 and a 22inch monitor in and keep it in budget).
