I have an old, sleeping t-bred 1800+, and i was thinking about making an upgrade to it. i was thinking about getting an abit nf7, and 12 pc3200 ram. also, i have a generic 350W psu, do i need to get a stronger psu, such as an antec, to make the oc to 2300MHz (which is about 3000+)? or is the generic POS good enuff? i dont wanna spend more then $150 total, whcih is the makeup of the mobo and ram. i'm a pretty good ocer, but i just wanna make sure i can make the oc with a tight budget.

Really depends on the quality of the generic 350 watt... some are junk, others are almost as good, or just as good as an Antec.

lol, its default voltage is 1.6V. ya, i dont htink the psu should be a problem, if i was able to hit 3200+ from a 2500+ on a generic mustang psu, i should be able to hit 2.3Ghz from 1.53GHz wihtout a problem as long as i stick to the nf7 and good pc3200 memory.

I don't think it's going to happen, but there is only one way to prove me wrong.;)

An XP1800 running at 11.5x200 would absolutely destroy a non-overclocked XP2600, especially in gaming. Raw speed is all that makes a difference in gaming, the extra 256KB of L2 cache has no effect whatsoever.

You know, newegg sells a 400watt Allied psu for $29.99 that has really good specs for anything in that price range. 40A on the 5v rail is what my $89 Antec TruePower 480 has, so I would bet it would have no problems taking a T-bred B up to 2.3ghz, even if they're stretching the truth on the 40A, since mine is running a Barton at 2.5ghz, along with a 9800 Pro. OH, here's the link: link.
