Advice on an lcd monitor for a friend...........

He want an lcd that is good for gaming bc he plays alot of counter-stike. He also wants a big monitor so he is pretty much deciding b/t the viewsonic VX2000 and the sharp LL-T1820H (which was the monitor for the maximum pc perforce computer for this year). They seem to have pretty much identical specs with the viewsonic having a slightly brighter rating and higher contrast ratio but their pixel response time is the same. Can anyone recomend/not recomend either of these monitors? He is open to any other monitor suggestions too. Thanks
 
The Sharp LL-T1820B also has 10 bit Gamma correction this will make games look great! Sharp also uses zero voltage black, which means they guarantee no light (stuck on) pixels. A pixel that is stuck on is much more annoying than one that is off. Given the choice I would pick the Sharp.


 
Ahh, finally someone who knows about monitors! Okay, I too have been looking at the VX2000 and see it has the "LCD-3X" Technology (viewsonic.com), which claims to alleviate the blurryness and up the general image quality compared to standard LCD monitors. Considering its HDTV ready, i'd think they're really banking on that. As I watch TV and play games on monitor, this seems like what I've been looking for. Using a comparison on monitorsdirect between the VX2000 and its equivilient Sharp model (20 Inch), the LL-T2000A, it appears that in most ways the VX2000 is superior. The results are found... Here . Is there something I'm missing? Thanks

EDIT: Did a comparison between the VX2000 and the 18 inch Sharp LL-T1820B. Results...Found Here . Though definately a better Sharp monitor than the 20 inch model, it still seems to pail next to the VX2000. Again, am I missing anything? Thanks
 
I don?t think ViewSonic has released inventory of the VX2000 yet, I know we show no stock.

Aside from the 10 bit gamma correction and the zero bright pixels, the sharp also has what they call Super-V technology, basically the same marketing hype as ViewSonic is using with 3X. Pixel response on both is 25Ms. Sharp also uses a new AGLR (Anti-Glare, Low Reflection) coating on their products to reduce glare and improve contrast. It is difficult to put in words, its something you need to see to appreciate.

Sharp unlike ViewSonic is a manufacture, in fact Sharp is the #2 LCD panel manufacture in the world. They reserve the gamma correction and glare coatings exclusively for their own branded products.

While the VX2000 looks good on paper, my $$ would still goto Sharp.
