advice on an auction

I bought a printer on ebay uk (a used hp portable printer) more than half a year ago for my sister, but couldn't test it as I've been in the States. She couldn't get it to work, but I thought she had probably not set it up properly so I decided to wait till I could try it myself rather than contact the seller then. Now I find the printer really doesn't work, but the seller says he only offers a 3 month warranty, so I can't return it. (The seller is a business rather than a private seller.)
I think he's behaving badly. Do you think he's within his rights?

Yes, three months is more than 99 percent of eBay sellers would tolerate. Most give 30 days or less.

Ditto that...I've been buying and selling on eBay for about 5 years.
A 3 day to 2 week approval period is more the norm, although many sellers offer no guarantee at all.
The final word that buyers and sellers are bound to is the exact wording used in the auction ad itself. And after 3 months that does not even exist anymore.
