Advice on a Nvidia 6600 PCI-e card ?

256MB of RAM in that level of video card is rather pointless. I have a Gigabyte 6600 128MB PCI-e passively cooled card, which is fine for everyday tasks. It's not the greatest choice for gaming, but I do almost none of that, and the 1600x1200 of my LCD is a bit much for the poor 6600 to drive, it seems. 🙁

Well I forgot to say that when I had my X800XL I used to play HalfLife 2, I borrowed a PNY 6600 265 MB from my friend and I tested it with my rig in Half-life 2 and I noticed that the performance isn't too shabby at all, after all every now and then I might play a counter-strike source deathmatch maybe once a month max, so at.
@ $ 72 I won't feel bad about having a high end card and not utilizing it to the max, the only reason that I have sold m X800XL(it was a hard goodbye for me) after I have owned it for 4 1/2 months is that I got borred of gaming and I have got borred of paying big bucks for cards, so I wanted something that is supported in Linux and at the same time does handle DX9 games with an acceptable performance should the need ever arise, otherwise I would have gone with a lower level ATI. And to be honest the difference between the 128 MB version and the 256 MB version isn't that much so I think it's worth the difference, sinceI might be getting a 20-21" monitor soon so as you mentioned the performance hit you are noticing is due to the 128MB of memory you have,

Anybody think it's a bad idea to buy a REFURBISHED graphics card from Newegg, they do have a 15 days return policy but still , little risky, but the price is so nice.
