I've been using the same basic hardware in my sig for a few years now. I upgraded from a Core 2 E6600 to a Q6600 and have gone through a few video cards. The system is running on a 22" 1680x1050 LCD. Everything runs okay except I think video encoding could be a bit faster. A DVD usually takes me about 40min to an hour to encode to iPhone format.
I think my current video card is more than enough for the monitor and the current PC games I run (UT3, Crysis, SupCom, Grid, Dirt and some other FPS & racing games).
Would the experts here recommend a new MB & CPU or should I just stick with my current setup, get a better heatsink/fan and overclock? Would it make a huge difference for encoding a DVD with a new i5 or i7 cpu? And is my CPU a bottleneck with my 4890?
