I say 'or something' because I'm not sure whether a Brazos/Brazos 2.0 netbook will suffice.
So I want to spend ~$700 with an SSD (likely a crucial m4 or plextor if it fits. toggle nand ftw) but I'm not sure just what the hell I want to buy yet. Thus far, the IB i5's look tempting and even some of the ultrabooks based on i3's and i5's. The Trinity chip would suit me very well because I expect to game a bit on it at low res but it seems like the current choices just aren't appealing to me all that much. openCL performance would be quite nice as I do use some of the Adobe line + Sony Vegas. I'll be mostly web browsing, reading/writing via LibreOffice and perhaps light gaming hooked up to a socket.
What I'm looking for:
- great battery life. 6+ hours with brightness dimmed all the way down and tweaked p-states would be awesome.
- 14/13.3" form factor is ideal.
- good multitasker. I'd like to plan for 30 tabs of pr0n.
- light. I'd like it to be at or under 5lbs, and preferably closer to 4lbs.
- a decent gamer and have a pretty decent CPU.
- good build quality. I don't want it to fall apart if I give it a mean stare.
- linux friendly. I'm gonna Ubuntu the F out of it.
- crappy resolution is fine. I'm gaming on my desktop and the laptop should serve only to quench a rare gaming thirst.
So here are some ideas.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834131224 8-cell battery sounds delicious. Aluminum chassis and roughly 5 lbs.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834214595 not this exact model, but if an A10-4655m or IB i3/i5 came along for this price and these specs I'd love to have it. 8-cell Li-ion battery with a ULV and 128gb SSD... delish.

8-cell battery, samsung build quality and it's an i5.

'Dat weight and 'dat battery life 😎 Will this come in trinity/IB?
Thinkpad 14" E430 with a 65W/h battery and i5 IB chip will cost me roughly $600 from Lenovo.com. While that sounds great, if I can grab a Trinity A10-4600m for that price I'd rather have that. It's close to 5lbs but I've heard good things from the E430 line. Atm this seems to be the likeliest for my upcoming upgrade.
So, does anyone know if there's going to be any decent Trinity laptops in the 14"/13" form factor? The envy sleekbook is expensive for its specs, the dv6 is too damn big and the samsung 5 series is too damn expensive. I'm looking for an A8-4500m, A10-4600m or an A10-4655m or i3/i5 IB equivalents that are under $700.
Thoughts and suggestions?
