Advice on a car

This is all the ad said:
"Drivable automatic 91 Ford Escort. Passed emission test back in Jan 06. Odometer 120,000 miles."

It's was MD inspected a few years ago, she says she uses it to get groceries and whatnot.

I'm going to check it out later today and was wondering what anyone who knows cars think I should be on the lookout for. It's only $200, which sounds like a good deal to me (cheap enough that I convinced myself it's ok to buy a ford so long as it's used - it's a Jew thing).

Thats the newer Mazda Build I believe so I would def get the timming belt changed right away if it hasnt been already. Other then that for $200 and it runs, stops, and doesnt look to bad go for it. Great on gas it will be

she didn't seem like she knew much about cars, but i'll ask if she has any maintenence records. I'm also gonna take down the VIN and run it through carfax

That really is a good deal if it runs well. I had a '93 Tracer make it to over 200,000 miles running like a champ the whole time.

As for anything else about the car. There really wasnt too much more the came in the shop for other then a brake job or tune up. But for most it was the timming belt breaking. Just check the norm, oil, trans fluid, and coolant. Other then that its a $200 beater and drive it till it pukes

At $200 you are looking for trouble, but if it lasts you more than a few months then it was worth it.
I had a 93 Escort at one time that everything on it died at once. Transmission refused to shift gears properly and then the motor developed some sort of problem where it would redline on startup and then simply refused to start.

Many Jews don't buy Fords because of Henry Ford's anti-semitism. I'm one of them, but i figure if it's used then Ford isn't making anything off of it anyway.

Another question... I've never actually bought a car before... what do i need to make sure happens, legally, both with the person I'm buying the car from and afterwards. Can someone walk me through the process?

Some places you and the seller just sign the title others you have to get it notarized. Here if its an in state buy you don't need it notarized but from out of state you do.

Just take the Ford logos off of the car if it bugs ya that much. It's a cinch to do... you don't even need tools to do it. I had an 88 Escort, and the emblem was attached to the grill with two plastic clips. You could literally peel the raised Ford sticker emblem off of the steering wheel with your finger nail, too.

you'd think so, but actually, to me at least, it's a matter of a traitor being less forgivable than an enemy. I hold nothing against italy, germany or japan... in fact, i have rather positive views of all three countries. They have left the past behind. All countries have their bad periods and make terrible, devastating decisions.

Anyway, checked out the ford... it was crap, so i'm still on the lookout. Anyone see a deal in the DC area, please LMK.
