I am building another machine for home use. Basically some office apps, web browsing, and gaming for the kids.. THey are not old enough yet for WoW/Oblivion, or many of the resource hungry games, so the additional requirements for gaming are only moderate..

So Far I have picked the following:

1. Antec p180B
2. e6600
3. Western Digital Caviar 320Gb 3Gb/s SATA
4. Asus 256M Radeon X1950Pro GG# PCI Express x16 (is this overkill?)
5. FSP 500w AX500-A 2.0 version
6. Some DVD/CD drive.

So I need recommendations for mobo and memory.. The only requirement of the MOBO is to have rear 1394 plug(s). I currently have the DFI 975X.. What boards are people currently happy with?

I don't have memory picked out yet- but 2gb of value RAM should be no problem to pick- any particularly good value?

I'm not OVERCLOCKING..

Thanks, Matt

Yes, it's overkill for what you need.

An E6600 is also overkill. A nice cheap E4300 and P965 MB would do just fine.

Agreed. Seems like overkill if this is just a light-duty PC for the kids. Why use a $130 enthusiast case?

I like to tinker though... Building a home computer might be a little more expensive than a dell- but at least you know what your getting when you do it yourself.
